Wedding of Kasey and Curtis--Cape Charles on the Eastern Shore

Happy 1st Anniversary to our Daughter, Kasey and her husband Curtis...we love you both!!!

There is nothing any more special than when your daughter gets engaged and her mother is a wedding planner..how exciting!!!!! Kasey and I had so much fun planning for almost a year. Kasey lives in Florida and we were able to see her so much during the year of planning. As her parents it was important to us that she get married in Virginia but she wanted the coastal feel to their wedding and not Colonial Williamsburg. We choose Cape Charles on the Eastern Shore...The Oyster Farm was the "perfect" wedding venue for Kasey and Curtis. With the venue being located on the Chesapeake Bay we were able to create the Coastal Wedding that Kasey and Curtis wanted.

The "Oyster Shell" was the detail that we tied into her wedding invitations, place cards and detail touches throughout. Debbie Fisher, Wedding Corner Invitations worked with Kasey and Curtis and then she found the perfect...I do mean perfect invitation. A 3-D Oyster Shell that she would use to create their invitation. An oyster shell is not complete without a "pearl"...each invitation included a faux pearl. Their ceremony would be facing the water with a wooden arch draped in white fabric, crystal chandelier suspended with Russian Olive and Eucalyptus would adorn the fabric arch. Garden Urns were filled with gorgeous florals and greens. Antique church benches and fruitwood wooden chairs would create seating for the guests. A wooden door would be open for the guests to be seated then closed for the entrance of Kasey and her fathers. Unfortunately, we never used the ceremony location due to hurricane winds of 40 mph and rain that would challenge us with moving of florals, signs and other details as well as dropping six inches of water in the tent. Thank goodness we were on the Eastern Shore with sand mixture in the grass and the air conditioning in the tent....the water drained quickly. Choices were made to add a twist to the flow for the evening by reversing the order...Cocktail Reception, Ceremony in the Tent and Dinner and Dancing....thank you to my team and an amazing Day of Planner who is also an amazing friend on making it happen....Kasey and Curtis were calm through the weather and changes.

Although the setting for the ceremony was rained out we had a beautiful ceremony inside the tent. Our officiant, Ken Lane performed a beautiful ceremony that our guests still continue to talk about. With the wind and rain...it did make for a gorgeous sunset that Grant & Deb captured...my mom says it is the picture that should be on the front of a magazine. Kasey had no idea that Jeff Bristow our DJ had traveled to Cape Charles on Wednesday to do a "voice over" with her dad and Rodney. He would put the voice over to the song she choose to walk down the aisle with both her dads. This is the only time during her day that she cried!!!! It was beautiful!

A beautiful White Century tent was installed with a white draped entrance and curly willow entwined. White fabric draped above the dance floor with a crystal chandelier suspended to hang in the center of the dance floor as well as their monogram in the middle. Tables alternated between wooden farm tables and round tales. Wooden XBack Chairs with cushions were placed at the tables...tables were draped in coastal blue and ivory linens. Each place setting had a glass charger plate with silver beads, napkin and oyster shell calligraphy with the guest name. Gorgeous tall floral designs alternated the tables with low designs and lots of candle light. Table numbers created by Kasey were acrylic with the table number spelled out. Sophisticated perimeter lighting and pin spots were focused throughout the tent and each table.

There were details that were near and dear to Kasey's heart....we had a Daylee Biscuit Bar that featured her rescued chocolate lab, dog biscuits wrapped, bowed and label as favors for those guests that had pets of their own and my very dear friend, Beth Smith hand made an oyster chandelier, which was suspended at the Daylee Biscuit Bar. Their wedding cake was on a vintage buffet table and there was a smaller cake that stood atop a milk glass cake stand that was gift from her great, great Aunty Dot. Gelato was served after the cake cutting and this was a big hit!!!! In her dress were sewn two hearts of fabric. As a child her dad always wore a blue cotton button down shirt...Connie sent her one of his shirts and a heart was made from it. Rodney always wore fun ties when she was growing up and her favorite was a sunflower tie...on one of her trips home she found the tie and the second heart was created. Both hearts were her love for both her father and Rodney ....she wanted them to be a very special part of her dress as she walked down the aisle with both on her side.

The bridesmaids were dressed in beautiful powder blue dresses and the groomsmen is blue suits. Kasey's dog, Daylee was the flower girl and her collar matched the girls dresses as well as having a beautiful floral wreath around her neck...that is correct Daylee was part of the bridal party and stayed through the First Dance.

So many special moments throughout their wedding...father/daughter dances with her father and Rodney. A dance with her grandfather. A very special treat from her father-in-law, Rick who played a song while they danced on his flugelhorn. Her brother, Peyton, who is special needs had practiced his dance all year...he could hardly wait for his special dance to "Brickhouse" with Kasey!!!! Then as the party continued, glow sticks and sun glasses passed out we had a surprise visit from Hula the Hippo...that is correct we had an inflatable hippo!!!!

No wedding is complete without an amazing DJ, Jeff Bristow. He kept everyone on the dance floor and those that were not were enjoying the photo booth!!! I can honestly say that we didn't want the wedding to end....Kasey was so beautiful and happy all day and throughout the reception....it is a little sad when it all ends.

This was a destination wedding and we were so thrilled to have both families come together. We had guests from Holland and throughout the United States. Friends and family came to celebrate and enjoy Cape Charles on the Eastern Shore with Kasey and Curtis.
